Teeth Cleaning & Dental Checkups
There are many ways you can play an active role in maintaining your child’s oral health. Having their teeth cleaned in our office at least every six months is an excellent place to start.
What to Expect at Your First Checkup
During your child’s dental cleaning appointment, we will attempt to get to know them. We will tailor treatments to their health needs and goals. Here’s what to expect the first time your child comes to our office:
- Dental History—We will gather dental and medical histories, including any medical condition or medication that may impact dental treatment.
- Digital X-rays—We take digital x-rays as diagnostic material for a comprehensive oral exam. If your child had x-rays taken within the last 6 months, please have them sent to our office.
- Oral Screening and Oral Exams—After we perform an oral cancer screening and a thorough oral exam, we will evaluate your child’s teeth for alignment, decay, and other issues.
- Teeth Cleaning—We will clean your child’s teeth by identifying and removing areas of tartar and plaque.
- Oral Hygiene Habits—We end the visit by reviewing and reinforcing proper oral hygiene.
We recommend a Professional dental cleaning at least twice a year as a preventative measure. Gum disease cannot be completely reversed, but dental prophylaxis is one of the tools that can slow it down.
Our caring Children's Dentist offer a number of dental treatments that can keep your children's mouth healthy and your smile beautiful. Contact us today!Ready to Schedule a Consultation?
Proper Oral Hygiene: How to Prevent Tooth Decay
There are several simple and affordable ways in which you can fight tooth decay—a common chronic health condition.
- Brush twice and floss once daily.
- Have dental cleanings and checkups twice a year.
- Eat fewer sugary and acidic foods.
- Take fluoride tablets, which make teeth more resistant to decay.
- Ask your child’s dentist about additional cleaning supplements.
The Cost of Teeth Cleaning
Most dental insurance policies include benefits that cover teeth cleanings. Every family’s budgetary situation is different. We are happy to discuss payment options with you. At your child’s visit, we present costs up front. Our main objective is to help your child have a successful oral health experience.
